Accident Replacement Vehicles: What You Need to Know

No one wants to be in an accident, but it does happen. When your car is ruined, you’ll still need a vehicle to get around and this is where an accident replacement vehicle comes in. There are a few things you need to know about this, however.

Renting a Vehicle Yourself

One option is to simply rent the replacement car yourself, which means you are responsible for all costs. This will ensure you get the vehicle you want and you can have it for as long as you’re willing to hire it for. However, this may not be the best way to manage the situation if you were not at fault or if you have insurance that will cover a vehicle rental.

Insurance Rentals

In many cases, your vehicle insurance will cover the rental of a vehicle for you while your own vehicle is repaired or replaced. This process can take some time, so it may otherwise be cost prohibitive for you to hire the vehicle yourself.

You will probably be limited to certain types of vehicles in this case, but the upside is that you won’t be paying for the car. You’ll still have a way to get around and to and from work, which is important.

Credit Hire

Another option is using credit hire. Not every car rental company offers this, but it is an option with some, and it could well be your best choice. In this case, the vehicle is provided for you and you have a period of credit. The rental charges will be kept until the at-fault party can pay them. If you were not at fault, then this could be a good way to ensure you have a vehicle without needing to pay up front and then wait for the return on your money.

Hiring a Chauffeur

If you are unable to drive yourself after the accident, another option is to hire a driver with the vehicle. This will allow you to get around without needing to exert yourself. While this option is not for everyone, it can make your life much simpler if you were injured during the accident.

Traffic accidents are never a good thing, but an accident replacement vehicle can ensure you return to your normal life while everything is being sorted. It may take weeks or months for everything to settle down, so you can’t just stop going to work during that time.
